Problem 9

Let $|G| = 33$. What are the possible orders of an element of $G$? Show that $G$ must contain an element of order 3.

Solution

Since the order of $G$ is 33, then the only possible orders divide 33 which gives $\{1,3,11,33\}$ by Theorem of Lagrange.
