Formal Definition


If G is a group ,all other subgroups of G are proper subgroups except G itself.

Informal Definition


If G is a group, G itself is the improper subgroup of G. All others are proper subgroups.

Example(s)


$\mathbb Q^+$ under multiplication is a proper subgroup of $\mathbb R^+$ under multiplication.
